Due to the Covid-19 pandemic a new need has arisen. The Guatemala government does not cover the cost of medical supplies and treatment, making a bad situation worse for the marginalized families of San Pedro La Laguna.

Here is an email from Dr. Eddy who has been providing testing and medical support in San Pedro for COVID19 in addition to other health issues. We’re including it here in the original Spanish, translation below. We are VERY GRATEFUL for the support of everyone who has donated to this important cause.
En nombre de mi equipo y de nuestros pacientes darle muchas gracias por las donaciones de material y equipo médico que recibimos cada mes. Estamos felices de ayudar a muchas personas cada día. Personas que de otra forma no podrían obtener los servicios de salud que nosotros ofrecemos de una manera gratuita. Sabemos que nuestros recursos se agotarán pero hacemos lo mejor con lo que tenemos. Mandamos un abrazo y agradecimiento a cada uno que nos ha ayudado durante esta pandemia y por supuesto que los equipos estarán para uso de otros pacientes con cancer, enfermedades crónicas y otras. Y sobre todo estarán disponibles para las personas pobres todo el tiempo de vida que se tenga. Muchas gracias y bendiciones.
On behalf of my team and our patients, I want to thank you very much for the donations of medical supplies and equipment that we receive each month. We are happy to help many people every day, people who would not otherwise be able to obtain the health services that we offer for free. We know our resources will be exhausted but we do the best with what we have. We send a hug and thanks to everyone who has helped us during this pandemic and of course that the equipment will be for the use of other patients with cancer, chronic diseases and others. Ella se llamaba Ester fue una de las muchas pacientes beneficiadas con insumos médicos y concentrador de oxígeno por 3 meses Enferma por cancer terminal de mamá. Murió el día de ayer y me pidió que les dijera Muchas Gracias.
Her name was Ester, she was one of the many patients who benefited from medical supplies and an oxygen concentrator for 3 months. She was sick with mother’s terminal cancer. She died yesterday and asked me to say Thank you very much.
